In Georgia, dozens of villages cut off from the outside world due to the snowfall
Heavy snowfall in the Georgian region of Kakheti has cut off more than 30 villages from the outside world. Roads in Erisimedi, Khornabuji, Udabno, Kasristskaro, Dumasturi, Halatsa are blocked. Situation in the highland villages is even more complicated, Day.Az reported.
In Akhmeta district, five villages in the Ilto gorge are cut off from the outside world. In Kvareli area, three villages in the Intsoba gorge, where several families live, are cut off from the communication. In Sagarejo area, the villages in Gombori gorge are cut off, in Gurjaani - the villages of Cheremi, Ziari and Pkhoveli, in Dedoplistskaroysky area - Kedebi area.
Note that in the mountain villages the snow depth reaches two feet. In addition, according to the locals, the snow continues.
"Snow-clearing equipment does not have time to clear the road. Therefore, we're using two-axle vehicles and ramming the snow, so you can at least walk afoot. In the first place, we'll clear main streets of the city, and then we'll begin to clear the road to the Ilto gorge. Chartala villagers got food, since this village is located 25 kilometers from the district center and the population cannot get there", the head of the municipality Akhmety Koba Maisuradze said.
