Ankvab refused "neutral passports"

At a meeting with EU Ambassador to Georgia Philip Dimitrov Abkhazian president Alexander Ankvab said that the citizens of the republic wouldn't use the so-called "neutral passports".

Ankvab has shown the EU ambassador the Abkhazian passports. "The Abkhaz passport meets all international standards, although it's not recognized yet in Europe and the rest of the world", Ankvab said.

He reminded the ambassador that after the war with Georgia in 1993 the leadership of Abkhazia offered its citizens a neutral UN passport. "That time, Georgia was opposed it, but now Russia has already given us a helping hand, and we do not need any other documents", Ankvab said.

President noted that "the brilliant ideas of international diplomacy can blind you, but they are not suitable for Abkhazia". "We are for equal dialogue and civilized relations", he said.

President noted that the cooperation with European structures is possible in science, education, culture and business fields. But the president stressed, "Georgia's friends should abandon the idea of ​​the so-called involving without recognition". "Do not waste your time on it. We cannot fail to get amazed by the similar tone and text of international diplomats. We are tired of such a diplomatic manner. If it continues, there is no point in dialogue", the president said.

He also reminded the EU Ambassador that Georgia refused to sign the peace agreement while was arming. "August of 1992 was a logical continuation of the policies carried out by Georgia for decades. Today's Abkhazia isn't Abkhazia in 1992 or even in 2008", the president said.

President noted that the number of countries that recognize Abkhazia will increase. "We have no problem in communication. We will develop ourselves, as well as with help of Russia and other countries that are supporting us", Alexander Ankvab said, according ITAR-TASS.
